An Integral Part of Covenant |
We all need prayer. We need to pray, and we need to be prayed for. The Bible even urges us to "pray without ceasing" (1 Thess. 5:17). Prayer is a critical component of our relationship with Jesus Christ. As others have noted, prayer is the backbone of the Church, and at Covenant we take it very seriously. Prayer is an integral part of our worship services, Sunday School classes, and small groups. There are even some groups that meet during the week specifically for the purpose of praying. Here are some of our important parts of Covenant's overall prayer ministry. |
Prayer for Spiritual Seekers |
Every Wednesday at 12:15a.m., a group meets in the Covenant chapel to pray for people who are spiritually seeking. If you're seeking direction for your soul, and crave to fill an emptiness you feel for something eternal, then you are being prayed for by this group of prayer warriors! The group is always looking for people to join in this particular ministry. Contact Leigh Ann Looyenga to learn more. |
Intercessory Prayer Ministry |
During the Sunday School hour (9:45-10:45 a.m.), several people meet in the Associate Pastor's office to pray specifically for our church, its leadership, its teachers, other Sunday School classes, and our visitors. They are also available to pray personally with anyone in need. If you would like for them to pray for you, stop in or drop a note in the "Intercessory Prayer" mailbox (bottom shelf, next to the Associate Pastor's office). Also, you might want to consider joining this group of devoted pray-ers. |
Prayer Concern Cards |
If you would like for the church to pray for you or someone whom you love, you can complete a Prayer Concern Card and drop it in the offering plate during Sunday worship. For the 8:30 service, these yellow cards are located on the table near the door and in the friendship pads; for the 11:00 service, the cards are in the pew racks. You may indicate whether you want your concern to be prayed aloud during the service and/or put on the prayer chain (see below). You may also request that one of our pastors call you about the concern. |
Prayer Chain |
Covenant's "prayer warriors" are available to pray for anyone during the course of the week. If you would like for them to pray for you or a loved one, complete a Prayer Concern Card or contact the church secretary, Debbie Hughes via e-mail, or by phone at 881-4501. If you would like to be part of this important ministry, you may join the prayer chain by contacting Diana Gibson at 881-7360. |
Prayer Vigils |
Throughout the year, Covenant sets aside special times for corporate prayer, including round-the-clock prayer vigils. Watch for announcements for these special prayer events in the bulletin, the newsletter, and this website. |
Parents of Young Adults |
Many parents today are troubled over faith choices children make when they reach the age of independence. This is when many childern turn away from their faith and their church family, and begin a perilous quest for their own spiritual identity. Covenant has a group whose specific purpose is to pray for these childern. If you would like to participate in this prayer group, contact Alice Horn. |
