This special edition of Construction News contains a single article: "Where Are We? - The Status of Construction and Cleanup".

The following areas are “under construction” and are OFF LIMITS to Covenant staff and members:

1. Sanctuary and Narthex – Cleanup continues as well as sealing all the cleaned surfaces (wood, brick).  Floor cleanup and sealing will be done after other surfaces have been sealed.  Repairs due to fire damage and renewal of renovation will resume after cleanup and sealing are done.

2.  Old Offices – “The Administrative Wing”   – Demolition and cleanup is complete except for the bathrooms.  Demolition has begun in the bathrooms.

3.  New Building  – The outer structure is nearly complete.  Barring bad weather, the trusses and roof should be installed the week of November 17-21.  As Dave Arnett says, it’s not a building until the roof goes on.  There is still some steel to be installed, but interior work should begin soon.

4.  New Elevator/Library  – Demolition is complete.  Extensive rock removal was necessary to build the pit (five feet deep) for the elevator.  It is a lot quieter now, which makes the staff across the hall in the Chapel (temporary offices) happy.

The following areas have been cleaned and are back in use.  In some cases, renovation is basically complete; in other cases, renovation is scheduled later in the project.

1. Basement  – Cleanup is complete; the roof support system has been installed.  Classrooms for youth are being used, as is the Choir Room. 

2.   Children’s Wing  – All cleanup is complete – once new bathroom door hardware is installed, installation will be complete, except for the new sprinkler system (not yet scheduled). 

3.  Adult Education Wing  – All cleanup is complete and rooms have been deemed usable.  Renovation of this area (new carpets and paint) will be done one classroom at a time – probably beginning in January.  Room 8 will have major renovation with installation of a small stage and a new audio/visual system.

4. Fellowship Hall  – This area is scheduled for renovation after renovation of the sanctuary is completed.

5. Temporary Church Office  – Cleanup completed, no renovation planned.  This will go back to being a Chapel once the new building is ready for occupancy and the staff has moved.
