Fall 2020: In-Person Children’s Worship ReLaunch Plan

Dear parents and friends,

We are excited that Covenant will be resuming in-person Children’s Worship and opening the nursery beginning Sunday, October 18! Our staff and volunteers have missed the children, and we are looking forward to worshipping with them soon. For the safety of all our children and volunteers and in accordance with CDC guidelines, we will be implementing new health and safety measures and protocols in addition to our current child protection policies and procedures. You can read our detailed reopening guide here. As a brief overview, these are things that will look different than they have in the past:

  1. We will have Children’s Worship during the service: children will be dropped off between 9:45 and 10:00 am in the Children’s Wing and picked up following the service at 11:00am. The nursery will also be open beginning at 9:45 to 11:15am for child drop off.
  2. All children 3yo and over, staff, and volunteers must wear a mask at all times.
  3. We will have a special time of worship and learning together in each classroom age group: 3-4 year olds; K-1st grade; 2nd-3rd grade; 4th and 5th grade.
  4. We will suspend online Children’s Worship beginning October 18. To watch pervious lessons go here.

Warmly,

Alison Kling

Covenant Kids

“At Covenant we believe that every page of scripture shows how people are broken, but loved and how God is in control. As a congregation, our theological vision is one that emphasizes this principle teaching of salvation: that even when we were bad, we received the good reward of salvation through Jesus Christ. God does not require us to first behave and then receive this reward. Rather, Christ behaved on our behalf when we were still broken, so that we could receive eternal life and live lives of freedom and love in response to this promise.”

Sundays for Covenant Kids: ***Please note that we are currently not having in-person Children’s Church or Sunday School as of September 2020.

Nursery: Birth – 2yrs, open 8:15am – 12:15pm

Our Nursery Director, Beth Vest, and her wonderful team of caregivers, provide a loving and safe environment for children ages 0-2.

Ms. Beth, who previously directed Covenant Preschool, makes sure that the nursery is a place where children can play and explore on Sunday morning. During the Sunday School hour (10:00-10:45) our 1 and 2 years olds engage in a bible lesson and craft led by Debbie Johnson. Each week, Ms. Debbie helps the children know that they are loved by a God who created them and knows them.

Our Children’s Church is a place for children to learn about God and form faith-filled friendships with each other. Children’s church is offered during both the 8:30am and 11:00am service (and during our combined 10:00am summer service)

Children’s Church: 3yrs – 5th grade, during the 8:30am and 11:00am services

Children’s Choir (9:45am – 10:00am during the school year)

3 years – K Choir Children’s Choir: Our 3 years-K choir is led by Sheridan Schafer, a UAH Music student who also sings in our 11am choir. Sheridan loves teaching this age groups to love rhythm and music!

First-Fifth Grade Children’s Choir: Our upper elementary children’s choir, led by Albert Herrington, is a time for children to sing and praise God together each Sunday morning. Children’s choir is each week at 9:45 in room 8.

Sunday School (9:45am – 10:00am during the school year)

Sunday school is a chance for our children to dive deep into God’s word. Following choir, children break into age-groups learn more about Jesus’ love for them and God’s redemptive plan for his people. We use the Gospel Story curriculum that will ensure that each child will learn about God’s grace throughout the arc of scripture, from Genesis to Revelation, over a three year period through fun engaging lessons.

Pick up your child in the children’s wing. Following Sunday School at 10:45.

Service and Outreach

Our children have opportunities to engage throughout the year in outreach and service projects in our community and beyond. Check out our upcoming events (link to serve the city page) to find an opportunity for you and your family to serve together.
