Part-Time | Full-Time | Hourly | Year-Round
Covenant Weekday Preschool is seeking a caring, creative, and faith-filled teacher to join our team in nurturing and shaping young hearts and minds. This position is perfect for someone who finds joy in helping children grow through play, discovery, and a Christ-centered environment.
School Hours: 8am-5pm, M-F, Year-Round
Full-Time Lead Teacher: 40 hours a week (schedule varies)
Full-Time Teacher: 40 hours a week (schedule varies)
Part-Time Teacher: Minimum 25 Hours a week (schedule varies)
Paid Time Off: Full time 10 days per year, Half time 5 days per year
Childcare Discount: Full-Time Teacher 50%, Part-Time Teacher 25%
Supervisor: Director of Christian Education
A teacher of Covenant Weekday Preschool will be responsible for the safety and well-being,
Christian nurture, and early childhood education of the children enrolled in her class.
RELATIONSHIP TO DIRECTOR, SCHOOL, AND CHURCH
· Reports to the Director of Christian Education (DCE)
· Maintains assigned hours and attends additional planning, training, and extra school and
church-wide events as required.
· Works closely with other members of staff (church and school) on use of space,
equipment, and daily time schedules.
· Informs Director if absence is necessary no later than 7:00am on day of absence so that a
substitute can be secured.
· Continues educational growth through reading, professional organizations, or workshops
· Attends in-house First Aid/Pediatric CPR training yearly
· Must be professing Christian and an active member in good standing of a local Christian
church (does not have to be Covenant Presbyterian Church)
· Lead Teacher serves as Director when the DCE is not present in the building.
DUTIES
· Plans and implements a developmentally appropriate play-based program of early
childhood education in assigned classroom under the supervision of the DCE. This
program uses an integrated approach to provide for all areas of the child’s development
(physical, emotional, social, communicative, and cognitive). This includes literature,
music, language, expression, and motor development.
· Uses developmental assessment of children’s progress and achievement to plan.
curriculum, identify children with special needs, and evaluate program’s effectiveness.
· Works in partnership with parents, communicating regularly to build mutual
understanding and greater consistency for children. Contacts the family of a child on the
second consecutive day of absence.
· Establishes a daily routine and schedule for the class, prepares daily lesson plans, and
keeps daily attendance.
· Provides an attractive and creative classroom that reinforces goals and units of study.
Maintains seasonal or monthly bulletin boards, door decorations, etc.
· Sets up classroom each day prior to children’s arrival with regard to materials and
equipment and at the end of the day returns them to their proper storage areas.
· Provides consistency by planning regularly with other teachers in age group.
· Responsible for the appearance and cleanliness of the classroom and equipment
· Cleans toys and equipment each summer and throughout the year as needed (beyond
normal disinfecting)
· Follows school health policy in regards to diaper/soiled clothing duties.
· Follows Safe Child Policy and other policies as specified in the Employee Handbook
Now Hiring: Covenant Childcare Weekday Aide
Hours: Year-round, 5-hour shifts, M-F, 8am-5pm, Scheduled commitment in advance and on-call list.
Supervised by: Director Christian Education and Classroom Teacher
Position summary: Preschool Aides work with teachers to create a safe, nurturing, play-based,
Christian environment.
Qualifications:
· Willingness to be supervised
· Willingness to be scheduled or on call
· Good communication skills
· Some familiarity with child development
· Be able to be on your feet working with children
· Be able to pick up children
· Criminal Background Check
Tasks include:
· Assisting in classroom
· Engage with children through play
· Assisting teachers with breaks and classroom cleaning
· Help parents with drop-off and pick up
· Monitoring outdoor or fellowship hall play
· Assist with snacks and meals
· Other duties as assigned
· Adhere to Covenant Presbyterian safety and administrative policies, including the
diapering policy, Safe Child Policy and policies in the Employee Handbook
