Our Program

Covenant Weekday Preschool operates as an outreach of Covenant Presbyterian Church.  We are a non-profit organization offering a child-oriented, play-based, Christ-centered preschool program. Our program seeks for each child to grow academically, socially, spiritually, and emotionally at his or her own pace. Our goal is to foster a positive self-image and love for learning in each child. We seek to provide a calm, age appropriate learning environment that creates a warm and loving atmosphere. We are always looking for new and creative ways to improve and to make sure our students develop the skills they need to grow and achieve optimal development.

In our daily program you will find a balance of child directed and teacher directed activities, long periods of uninterrupted playtime (Free Play), and lots of hands-on activities. Our center is play-based; therefore we use developmentally age appropriate concepts and themes as the basis of our curriculum. We believe that play is the best way in which children learn new skills and process concepts. We provide daily lessons in language arts, science, art, music/movement, math, dramatic play, sensory, and perceptual motor skills.

Teachers create their own lesson plans which change according to each class’s unique personality and developmental skills. Lesson plans are developed around themes that are based on concrete experiences our youngest children will encounter in their daily life. As the children grow and mature, their understanding of the world around them grows and expands as do our progression of themes. This creates an authentic and natural flow where children can have multidimensional sensory experiences on a daily basis while the teacher facilitates their increasing understanding of their world.

Our Staff

Our staff is made up of educated, trained and experienced teachers in Early Childhood Education. Each of our teachers has had experience in various areas including child development, music, art, and elementary and secondary education. All classrooms have staff members who are certified in Pediatric CPR, First Aid, and AED. Plans are in place for severe weather or other emergencies. We are dedicated to providing a safe, rich, and creative atmosphere from which learning can flow.
