June 21 Worship Resources: “Second Mile Worship”

June 20, 2020

This powerful service is full of music, mission and service. With all of the challenges confronting us as a nation, the story of Second Mile Development in today’s service is sure to give you hope. Stay tuned for a time with Ms. Alison, Stephen Ministry Commissioning, and show-stopper music from our worship leaders.

As our presbytery in North Alabama and our nation reflect on the important work of racial reconciliation during this “Solidarity Sunday,” we listen to voices from our mission partners right here in HSV at Second Mile development. As we join together in prayer for our country, we also look forward to the meaningful work ahead that will require many generations to come this Father’s day.

Read on below for important announcements about next week’s worship service at 10AM in the Sanctuary. (Don’t worry – we’re still going to be offering an awesome Online worship service too! Whether you’re in your home or in our sanctuary, we’ve got you covered!)

Order of Worship: June 21, 2020

Family & Small Group Discussion Questions

  1. Take a few seconds to think – ask the Holy Spirit to remind you of something you’re thankful that a previous generation contributed (maybe even something your own father achieved)
  2. Take turns reading the whole prayer from King Solomon in 1 Kings 8:22-53.
  3. Which part of the prayer is most meaningful to you today?
  4. Now take turns reading the story of the Queen of Sheeba in 1 Kings 10.
  5. What do you find most interesting about this encounter?
  6. Now take 30 seconds to listen in silence to the Holy Spirit. Ask God, what is your greatest hope for the next generation to contributes to society? Take turns sharing. Discuss what we can do next to help.
  7. After everyone has shared, close by praying for the person on your left.

Worship Relaunch Information

On June 7th, Covenant plans to transition back into its sanctuary at 301 Drake Ave SE, Huntsville AL. We will offer a small worship service at 10AM. Based on a congregational survey, we anticipate most folks to continue worshipping online – so we will continue to provide excellent worship resources and videos each Sunday for those at home. Together we are united in our commitment to one another and our commitment to Christ, whether worshipping in-person or online!

No reservation or permission is required to attend worship in the sanctuary on June 7th. However, all participants must wear a mask (we will have some available for you!) and we request that you take your temperature and use the restroom before leaving your home.

The elders request that you make a careful and informed decision about the best way for you to worship in June. For those who intend to attend worship in person, please read the following guidelines carefully when making your decision.
