PALM SUNDAY ORDER OF WORSHIP

Welcome & Announcements

Storytime with Ms. Alison                                                 Alison Kling

A craft is available to print at https://www.covhsv.org/palm-sunday-worship-guide/ so that children can make their own palm branches to wave and march during the first hymn. If you do not wish to make the craft just wave something fun nearby (napkin, washcloth, etc.)

Opening Hymn: “Hosanna, Loud Hosanna”                   Matt Carey

Children may march around the house waving their palm branches during this hymn

Hosanna, loud hosanna

the little children sang;

through pillared court and temple

the lovely anthem rang.

To Jesus, who had blessed them,

close folded to his breast,

the children sang their praises,

the simplest and the best.

From Olivet they followed

mid an exultant crowd,

the victory palm branch waving,

and chanting clear and loud.

The Lord of earth and heaven

rode on in lowly state,

nor scorned that little children

should on his bidding wait.

“Hosanna in the highest!”

That ancient song we sing,

for Christ is our Redeemer,

the Lord of heaven, our King.

O may we ever praise him

with heart and life and voice,

and in his blissful presence

eternally rejoice.

Doxology

Praise God, from whom all blessings flow;

Praise Him, all creatures here below;

Praise Him above, ye heavenly host:

Praise Father, Son, and Holy Ghost. Amen.

Prayers of the People & Lord’s Prayer                           David Hunsicker

Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name.

Thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.

Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our debts,

as we forgive our debtors; and lead us not into temptation, but

deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom and the power

and the glory, forever.

Sacrament of Communion                                                 David Kling

All who trust in Jesus as savior and lord are welcome to share in communion at home as Pastor Kling leads the words of the Lord’s Supper on video. Use bread and juice or a similar substitute to represent the body and blood of Jesus Christ.

Closing Hymn: “Lord, I Need You”                                   Covenant Praise Band

Lord, I need You, oh, I need You

Every hour I need You

My one defense, my righteousness

Oh God, how I need You

Where sin runs deep Your grace is more

Where grace is found is where You are

Where You are, Lord, I am free

Holiness is Christ in me

Lord, I need You, oh, I need You

Every hour I need You

My one defense, my righteousness

Oh God, how I need You

So teach my song to rise to You

When temptation comes my way

When I cannot stand I’ll fall on You

Jesus, You’re my hope and stay

Lord, I need You, oh, I need You

Every hour I need You

My one defense, my righteousness

Oh God, how I need You

You’re my one defense, my righteousness

Oh God, how I need You

My one defense, my righteousness

Oh God, how I need You

Charge

Wherever we go, God has sent us. Wherever we are, God has put us there. He has a purpose in our being there. He has something he wants to do through us, wherever we are.
